Viti Project

"Viti," translates to "Lighthouse" in Icelandic. The Viti Project is the ambitious endeavor of immortalizing each lighthouse gracing the rugged shores of Iceland. Commencing its journey amidst the winter of 2018, the project has since borne witness to the creation of approximately 130 watercolor portraits, with a mere three lighthouses left uncharted. Embarking upon this venture encapsulates the spirit of exploration, a quest to uncover and depict the remote corners of Iceland. While not every brushstroke may achieve perfection, each painting weaves a vivid narrative of the untamed beauty discovered along the way.

Throughout the summer months, my small 4x4 transforms into a vessel of discovery, traversing Iceland's diverse terrain to get closer to those isolated beacons. Accessing Iceland’s lighthouses often necessitates arduous treks or adventurous boat rides across tumultuous waters. Join me on this daring expedition as we unveil Iceland’s most untouched and soul-stirring views.

The final goal of the Viti Project, once every lighthouse has been painted, is to set up an exhibition with all the original watercolors for sale and create a book featuring every painting of the project.
